Engineering has always been my passion: especially the interplay of mechanics, electronics and informatics in a vehicle fascinated me. Driven by this passion I started as a field service testing engineer at TÜV Kraftfahrt. In order to expand my field of duties, I received further training and passed my exam as per German “Kraftfahrsachverständigengesetz (KfSachvG)”. This “Kraftfahrsachverständigengesetz” is considered an “expert law for vehicle inspection” that examines and recognizes soon-to-be experts. With the passed exam I became an officially recognized expert with partial powers and was able to work at our stationary facilities as head of inspection.

Promoting Talents as Head of Inspection

Working at a bigger test center I had to face another special challenge: the leadership of employees! A lot of different characters with different preferences work for TÜV Rheinland. Together as a team we have an unmatched expertise. Recognizing, promoting and developing individual strengths is indispensable in order to maintain and improve this expertise.

Next Step on the Career Ladder: Regional Manager

Since the beginning of 2019 I have another role: I have expanded my field of duties even further and became an area manager. My field of duties and assignments could not be more exciting. There is way more to my job than employee performance reviews, training new colleagues, personnel planning, vacation planning, working with existing customers as well as customer acquisition.

My assignments also include the planning of meetings. It is of utmost importance to pass on the key figures and to inform the staff of generic and subject-specific topics. To stay up-to-date, the contact to the main and core business should not be lost. We co-operate closely with other area managers so we can be as flexible as possible for our customers. This exchange happens particularly at superordinate department meetings.

Christian Rudnick

Christian Rudnick is Leverkusen Area Manager at TÜV Rheinland Kraftfahrt GmbH. In addition to take care of his strategic tasks, having responsibility for employees and handling customer service, he continues to examine vehicles himself, carries out modification acceptances, modification assessments, individual acceptances and driver’s license tests. This ensures that he never loses touch with the company’s core business. When he is not working for TÜV Rheinland, he likes to spend plenty of time with his family – either in the garden or “on the road” with their trailer. “Should my family not have time either, I am busy with gradually setting up a smart home infrastructure at our house.”
